Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers is the subject of intense transfer interest from three Premier League clubs: Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea, according to TEAMtalk. The 23-year-old, who recently signed a new contract with Villa, is reportedly open to a move if a suitable opportunity arises this summer.
Arsenal have intensified their scouting of Rogers as Mikel Arteta aims to bolster his attacking options. The Gunners view the former Middlesbrough player as a potential upgrade on the left side of their attack and believe he could provide the “X-factor” they sometimes lacked last season, even after the arrival of Eberechi Eze. Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are actively reshaping the squad for the new campaign.
Manchester City are also pushing for a reunion with Rogers, who spent four years in their academy before joining Middlesbrough in 2023. City see him as a possible replacement for Bernardo Silva following the Portuguese international’s departure. Rogers is said to be receptive to a return to the Etihad Stadium, where the hierarchy believe he has developed into a “complete attacking player.” Middlesbrough are also set to benefit from a sell-on clause.
Chelsea, under recruitment director Joe Shields, are also in the mix. Shields previously signed Rogers during his time as academy chief at City and maintains a strong relationship with the player. The Blues believe Rogers’ versatility and technical ability would be valuable additions to their evolving project.
Rogers is currently on international duty with England and is being kept informed of the developing situation. He is valued in the £100 million bracket. While Aston Villa would prefer to retain their prized asset, sources suggest a blockbuster move before the start of the new season is increasingly likely. The competition between the three clubs is expected to be fierce as they vie for the signature of the highly-rated midfielder.
