Bayern Munich have added Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola to their shortlist as a potential replacement for Michael Olise, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk. The development complicates Liverpool’s pursuit of the France international, who has been identified as their top target for the winger position this summer.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with Barcola, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stating the club are “super keen” on the 23-year-old. Sources have indicated that Barcola has expressed a desire to leave PSG, although the Ligue 1 champions are reportedly keen to negotiate a new contract and would demand a fee of at least €150million (£128m, $170.5m) for his sale.
Bayern’s interest stems from potential offers for Olise, with Real Madrid reportedly leading the chase for the Bayern winger. Should Olise depart, manager Vincent Kompany is reportedly keen on bringing in Barcola as a replacement. Falk notes that Barcola has been a player of interest for Bayern for some time, even prior to this summer, and that his contract situation – expiring in 2028 – could prove advantageous.
Barcola currently earns between €7-8million gross per year at PSG, significantly less than Olise’s salary at Bayern. This affordability, coupled with his playing style, makes him an attractive option for the Bundesliga champions. While PSG are currently attempting to retain Barcola, the possibility of a sale next summer, with only one year remaining on his contract, could force their hand. The situation presents a challenge for Liverpool, who now face competition from a financially powerful rival for their primary summer target.
