Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of forward Zadok Yohanna from Swedish side AIK Stockholm, the Premier League club confirmed on Saturday. The transfer fee is reported by Sky Sports to be €30 million, with potential for additional payments based on performance. Yohanna has agreed to a five-year contract with Brighton, securing his future with the club until the summer of 2029.
Interest in the 18-year-old winger was widespread across Europe, with Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and RB Leipzig all reportedly vying for his signature. Brighton ultimately prevailed, adding a promising young talent to their squad ahead of a season that will include Europa Conference League football. Yohanna, who will turn 19 later this month, has quickly established himself as a key player for AIK, contributing nine goal involvements in 18 first-team appearances.
He made his Allsvenskan debut for AIK in 2022, steadily increasing his role within the team over the past two seasons. Yohanna's pace and dribbling ability have drawn comparisons to several established Premier League wingers, and he is seen as a player with significant potential for growth. Brighton’s recruitment strategy has increasingly focused on identifying and developing young players with high ceilings, and Yohanna appears to fit that profile.
Brighton enjoyed a successful 2023-24 campaign under manager Fabian Hürzeler, finishing eighth in the Premier League and qualifying for the Europa Conference League. The addition of Yohanna is expected to bolster their attacking options as they prepare to compete on multiple fronts. The club’s ability to attract players of Yohanna’s caliber demonstrates their growing stature within European football and their appeal to emerging talent.
