Cagliari have set a valuation of €30 million for goalkeeper Elia Caprile, according to reports in Italy, as the club begins to consider potential replacements. President Tommaso Giulini has reportedly indicated this figure as the minimum acceptable offer for the 24-year-old.
The goalkeeper’s performances have attracted interest from multiple clubs both within Italy and abroad, prompting Cagliari to proactively explore options should a suitable bid arrive. The club is evaluating several candidates, including Marco Montipò of Hellas Verona, who brings significant Serie A experience.
Montipò is seen as a potential immediate replacement, offering a known quantity in the Italian top flight. Cagliari are also monitoring younger prospects such as Bologna’s Federico Pessina, who recently made his debut in Serie A, and Lorenzo Mascardi of Spezia, who impressed during the last season. The situation surrounding Alessio Klinsmann of Cesena is more complicated, as he is recovering from a recent injury requiring further assessment.
Caprile has become a key figure for Cagliari since joining the club, establishing himself as the clear first-choice goalkeeper. His form has significantly contributed to the team’s stability, and the club are reluctant to lose him without receiving a fee that reflects his value. The club will only consider a sale if an offer matching their valuation is presented, at which point they will accelerate their search for a replacement from a list of targets.
Cagliari recently confirmed their pre-season plans, with a training camp scheduled in Pontedilegno-Tonale and three friendly matches planned. The club is also working to resolve the futures of several players whose loan deals are set to expire, aiming to free up €30 million in funds. A restructuring of the sporting area is also underway, with Stefano Accardi set to take on a role in the transfer market and Paolo Muzzi appointed as club manager.
