Serie B side Pisa have parted ways with manager Oscar Hiljemark following their relegation from Serie A, the club confirmed in a statement. The Tuscan club announced the decision, thanking Hiljemark and his assistants Fredrik Ahlstrand and Javier Agenjo for their efforts and wishing them well in their future careers.
Hiljemark arrived at Pisa in February, replacing previous manager Luca D’Angelo, but was unable to prevent the club from dropping back into Serie B. Pisa’s relegation was sealed on May 1st, with three matchdays remaining, following a crucial 2-1 defeat against Lecce in a relegation battle.
According to Sky Sports, Pisa are now considering Paolo Zanetti and Fabio Pecchia as potential replacements on the bench. Zanetti most recently managed Venezia, while Pecchia was in charge of Como.
Meanwhile, at Monza, Paolo Bianco has been confirmed as head coach following their successful promotion to Serie A. However, the club is searching for a new sporting director after Nicolàs Burdisso announced his departure. Burdisso will return to Argentina for personal reasons, a decision he outlined in a message on the club’s website, expressing gratitude to the ownership, president Lauren Crampsie, and Mauro Baldissoni for the opportunity.
Burdisso praised the team’s dedication in achieving promotion and highlighted the support of the club’s staff and fans. His departure leaves Monza seeking a new figure to oversee their sporting strategy as they prepare for their first season in the top flight. The club has not yet named any potential replacements for Burdisso.
