Chelsea, through its ownership group BlueCo, and Manchester City’s City Football Group have both entered the competition to sign 18-year-old winger Zadok Yohanna from Swedish club AIK Solna, according to TEAMtalk. The move comes amidst existing interest from Brighton and Newcastle, with several other Premier League clubs also monitoring the situation.
Yohanna has quickly become a highly sought-after talent in Scandinavia following a breakthrough season with AIK Solna, where he has contributed five goals and four assists. He joined the club last year from the Ikon Allah academy and has impressed with his pace, flair, and attacking capabilities.
Brighton were initially leading the chase, with their recruitment team identifying Yohanna early on, but their pursuit has been complicated by the increased attention from other clubs. Newcastle have reportedly held talks regarding a potential transfer, while Brentford, Crystal Palace, and Sunderland have also made contact to assess the possibility of bringing him to England.
Both Chelsea and Manchester City’s multi-club networks are known for proactively identifying promising young players before their market value increases significantly, and Yohanna is considered to possess substantial long-term potential. Sources suggest that a move to England is currently the most likely outcome for the player.
Interest has also emerged from the Bundesliga, with RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen both expressing interest. However, AIK Solna’s valuation, believed to be in excess of £20million, has proven to be a barrier for the German clubs, who currently consider the fee too high for a player at his current stage of development. This has subsequently allowed Premier League clubs to strengthen their positions in the race.
AIK Solna are not under immediate pressure to sell, but there is an expectation that Yohanna could become one of the biggest outbound transfers in Swedish football this summer should a club meet their asking price. The competition for his signature is expected to intensify in the coming weeks.
