Chelsea have officially signed Wigan Athletic’s Harrison Bettoni, with the 18-year-old agreeing to a contract until 2030. The move comes after Bettoni’s contract with the League One club expired, though Chelsea will pay an undisclosed compensation fee to Wigan for the development of the player, who has been with the club since Under-13 level. Bettoni made 27 senior appearances for Wigan last season, demonstrating potential that has attracted Chelsea’s attention.
New Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed the club are open to selling Alejandro Garnacho, despite the Argentine having only joined the Blues last summer. Chelsea are reportedly seeking a €50 million fee for the 21-year-old and aim to complete a sale within the next two weeks. Alonso stated during his introductory press conference that discussions are ongoing with sporting directors and that several clubs have expressed interest, hoping for a resolution that benefits all parties.
Negotiations for Rayo Vallecano’s Pep Chavarria have hit a snag, with Chelsea believing the Spanish club have increased their demands. Initially, Rayo Vallecano reportedly indicated a willingness to accept a €15 million fee for the 28-year-old, but are now seeking a €25 million package. Chelsea are hesitant to trigger Chavarria’s €50 million release clause, preferring to avoid overpayment, but MARCA reports a fresh bid, potentially meeting Rayo’s valuation through add-ons, is forthcoming.
Alonso has also expressed his desire to retain Enzo Fernandez, despite the midfielder’s request to leave following Chelsea’s failure to qualify for European competition. Fernandez had reportedly set his sights on a move to Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants have ruled out a pursuit. Alonso confirmed a conversation with Fernandez, stating he wishes for the Argentina international to remain at the club, though details of the discussion remain private.
In a separate deal, Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos has joined Manchester United for a fee believed to be between €58 million and €59 million. Santos has signed a contract with United until 2031, with an option for a further season. The Brazilian international sought a move to secure regular first-team football, with Manchester United having previously expressed interest during negotiations for Alejandro Garnacho last summer.
