Chelsea may inadvertently hold sway over Manchester United’s attempts to sign West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville, according to reports emerging from Italy. The Netherlands international has attracted interest from multiple clubs following West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League, with his performances at the recent World Cup further elevating his profile.
While both Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with the 24-year-old, West Ham are believed to be seeking a fee in the region of €60 million for Summerville, though speculation suggests a release clause may exist at a lower value. Paris Saint-Germain and AS Roma have also expressed interest, with Summerville’s representatives currently in Rome to finalize Danilho Doekhi’s move to Lazio.
The situation takes a complex turn due to Roma’s simultaneous negotiations with Chelsea regarding Alejandro Garnacho and Strasbourg over Diego Moreira. Both Roma and Strasbourg are under the ownership of BlueCo, meaning discussions are effectively being held with the same parent company. Offers have been submitted for both Garnacho and Moreira, with the latter’s transfer appearing more likely to materialize.
Chelsea are reportedly seeking a permanent deal for Garnacho, while Roma are initially proposing a loan arrangement with an option to buy next year. Chelsea’s stance on Garnacho could directly impact the pursuit of Summerville. By facilitating Garnacho’s move to Roma, Chelsea would remove a potential competitor for Summerville’s signature. Conversely, a firm refusal to compromise on their Garnacho demands could force Roma to shift their focus to Summerville, potentially hindering Manchester United’s chances.
However, West Ham’s valuation of Summerville presents a potential obstacle for Roma. If the Hammers maintain their €60 million asking price, Roma may find it difficult to secure a deal given their current struggles to meet Chelsea’s €50 million valuation for Garnacho. The outcome remains uncertain, but the interconnected nature of these negotiations suggests a significant winger transfer domino effect is brewing.
