Chelsea are poised to submit a new offer of €25 million for Rayo Vallecano defender Pep Chavarria, according to reports from Spain. The 28-year-old has emerged as a key target for the club as they seek to strengthen their options at left-back, and the Blues are preparing an improved bid in an attempt to secure his signature.
Marca report that Chelsea’s offer will include potential add-on payments to reach the €25 million valuation. Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing, with both parties expressing a desire to reach an agreement. Chavarria himself is reportedly keen to join Chelsea and reunite with compatriot Xabi Alonso, who is managing the club.
Chavarria enjoyed a productive season with Rayo Vallecano, making 44 appearances across all competitions and contributing four goals. Should he complete a move to Stamford Bridge, he is anticipated to provide cover for Jorrel Hato. Marca claim that Chavarria already has a “firm agreement” with Chelsea and is hopeful that a transfer fee can be agreed upon.
Alonso has directly requested the signing of Chavarria to the Chelsea hierarchy, and negotiations are being led by Rayo Vallecano president Raul Presa. Presa is reportedly seeking a fixed fee of €25 million to sanction the deal. Beyond Chavarria, Chelsea are also engaged in talks to sign Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix, identified as their priority centre-back target following Jan Paul van Hecke’s transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.
The club are also planning to offload players such as Axel Disasi, Trevoh Chalobah, and Benoit Badiashile to create space for Lacroix. Chelsea aim to partner Levi Colwill with the France international at the heart of their defence. The Blues are also pursuing versatile attackers, with Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers a target, and are battling Arsenal for his signature. Following the sale of Andrey Santos to Manchester United, central midfield is also an area of focus, with Adam Wharton and Valentin Barco also linked with moves to Stamford Bridge.
