Chelsea are continuing to actively reshape their squad with several transfer pursuits underway as the summer window progresses. According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid are not currently engaged in negotiations to sign Enzo Fernandez, despite reports suggesting the Argentinian midfielder desires a move to the Spanish capital. Chelsea have reportedly set an asking price of €140 million for Fernandez, but sources at Real Madrid, as reported by The Athletic, have downplayed the likelihood of a deal materializing at this stage.
In terms of outgoings, the club have agreed to the permanent sale of 16-year-old academy prospect Arthur Barratt to Everton. Romano confirmed via X that a fee has been agreed for the 2009-born midfielder, who attracted interest from other Premier League clubs, but Everton are prioritizing his development.
Chelsea have also submitted an opening bid of €9 million for Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria, as reported by Spanish media. This move comes as Chelsea anticipate promoting Jorrel Hato into a starting role, with Chavarria intended as a backup option. Rayo Vallecano have reportedly rejected the initial offer, and negotiations are expected to continue as Chelsea seek to secure the player.
Further bolstering their outgoing business, Chelsea are in advanced talks with Everton regarding Tyrique George. The 20-year-old spent the latter part of the 2025-26 season on loan with Everton, and while the initial option to buy has expired, The Athletic reports that the clubs are discussing a new permanent arrangement, potentially with a revised payment structure.
Chelsea’s pursuit of Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers has hit a snag, with The Telegraph reporting that Villa value the England star at a British record €150 million. Villa are unwilling to sell and believe Rogers is worth more than Elliot Anderson, while also factoring in a 20 per cent sell-on clause owed to Middlesbrough. Finally, Chelsea are preparing a second bid for Sunderland’s Granit Xhaka, following the rejection of their initial €9.3 million offer. The Athletic reports that Xhaka is keen on reuniting with former Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso, increasing Chelsea’s optimism despite Sunderland’s current reluctance to sell.
