Chelsea have renewed their interest in signing Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa, according to reports in Record, citing the Daily Mirror. The Blues are seeking a new shot-stopper following Filip Jorgensen’s desire to leave the club, and have turned their attention back to the Portugal international who has long been a target.
Porto are reportedly reluctant to sell Costa, which means Chelsea may need to meet his €60 million release clause – a fee that would represent a world record for a goalkeeper. Costa, 24, established himself as a key player for Porto, playing a vital role in their league title win and Champions League campaigns. He has also become the established number one for the Portuguese national team.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are potentially preparing a record-breaking bid for Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, as reported by AS. President Florentino Perez views Olise as a priority target this summer, and is expected to make a formal approach following the World Cup. Bayern are currently adamant that Olise is not for sale, but the Spanish outlet suggests a change of heart could occur if the player expresses a desire to move to the Santiago Bernabéu. Even then, Real Madrid may have to exceed the €222 million Paris Saint-Germain paid for Neymar to secure his signature.
Manchester United are reportedly competing with Real Madrid for the signature of West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes. AS claims that United are currently the favourites to land the Portuguese international, but Real Madrid are confident they could convince Fernandes to choose them should they receive the green light from the player.
Liverpool have also re-entered the race for Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram, according to Corriere dello Sport. Thuram was previously a target for the Reds before his move from Nice to Turin. Juventus are apparently willing to let Thuram leave, seeking a lucrative sale before the end of their fiscal year. Barcelona are also considering a move for Racing Santander full-back Jorge Salinas, with Fabrizio Romano reporting the 19-year-old could be available for just €8 million due to a release clause.
