Kadidiatou Diani has announced her departure from Olympique Lyonnais, the player revealed in a post on her Instagram account Monday evening. The 31-year-old France international, who has 126 caps and 32 goals for her country, joined the club in 2023 from Paris Saint-Germain.
Diani expressed gratitude to Lyon and its supporters in her social media statement, thanking them for the experiences and growth she found during her time with the club. She stated that Lyon would always hold a special place in her heart, framing the departure as a ‘petit au revoir’ rather than a final goodbye.
The forward arrived at Lyon with a strong reputation following a successful spell at PSG, where she established herself as one of the leading forwards in French women’s football. At Lyon, Diani quickly became a key player, contributing to three consecutive Ligue 1 titles in 2024, 2025 and 2026. She featured in 94 matches for the club, scoring 43 goals.
Diani’s time at Lyon was unfortunately impacted by a knee injury sustained at the end of the recent season, causing her to miss the Women’s Champions League final against Barcelona, which Lyon lost 4-0. The club confirmed the player’s departure, but have not yet disclosed details regarding her next destination. Her exit leaves a significant void in Lyon’s attacking options as they prepare for the upcoming season, and the club will likely seek a replacement in the transfer window. The move signals a potential new chapter in Diani’s career, with several clubs across Europe potentially vying for her signature.
