Arsenal are in a strong position to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, with a secret agreement reportedly in place, according to reports from TransfersDaily on Wednesday.
The details of the agreement were not disclosed, but the report indicates Arsenal currently hold a significant advantage over other potential suitors for the 21-year-old winger. Rogers joined Aston Villa from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2023 for a reported £15 million, but struggled to establish himself as a regular starter under Unai Emery, making 12 Premier League appearances, primarily as a substitute.
Rogers did enjoy a productive loan spell at Middlesbrough during the 2024-25 season, scoring 6 goals and providing 8 assists in 22 Championship games. This form has reportedly attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs, but Arsenal’s pre-existing agreement gives them a clear edge in negotiations. The player’s versatility, being able to play on either wing or as a central attacker, is seen as a valuable asset.
Arsenal are reportedly looking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2026-27 season, with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka being key players for the Gunners. Adding Rogers would provide manager Mikel Arteta with further depth and competition for places. The transfer could allow Arsenal to rotate their squad more effectively throughout the season, potentially improving their consistency across multiple competitions.
Elsewhere, Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement with Atalanta to sign midfielder Ederson, while Chelsea are identifying replacements for Marc Cucurella. Napoli have triggered their purchase obligation for Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United for a fee of €44 million.
