FC Bayern Munich have completed the signings of Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown for a combined fee of 100 million euros, but sporting director Max Eberl is now prioritizing player sales, according to reports from BR24. The acquisitions of Saibari and Brown, costing 50 million euros each, have been lauded for adding depth to the squad and embracing tactical flexibility.
Saibari impressed during his time in the Dutch Eredivisie and showcased his abilities on the international stage, while Brown has been on the radar of German clubs after a strong season domestically. Both players bolster Bayern’s left side, but Eberl intends for them to offer versatility beyond their primary positions. The “kicker” reports that Brown will be considered as an option for defensive midfield following Leon Goretzka’s departure.
Saibari fills the void left by the end of Nicholas Jackson’s loan spell and is expected to serve as backup to Harry Kane. This approach of repurposing players is not new at Bayern, with Tom Bischof and Konrad Laimer successfully converted into full-backs. Eberl’s strategy emphasizes youth development and adaptability within the existing squad.
However, the 100 million euro investment in Saibari and Brown represents the limit of Bayern’s spending for this transfer window. Eberl must now generate funds through player sales. João Palhinha, Sacha Boey, and Bryan Zaragoza are among those whose departures the club will consider, alongside potential offers for Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Ito, and Min-jae Kim. Successful sales, following the departures of Daniel Peretz, Jonah Kusi-Asare, and Alexander Nübel, would strengthen Eberl’s position in contract extension talks, which are due to expire in 2027.
Bayern are also focusing on promoting youth players, with Aleksandar Pavlovic and Lennart Karl having already established themselves in the first team. Vincent Kompany has indicated that Arijon Ibrahimovic, returning from a loan spell at Heidenheim, will be integrated into the senior squad. Bischof is also expected to become the third-choice midfielder behind Pavlovic and Kimmich. The club’s financial priorities now center on balancing the books and securing contract extensions for key players like Harry Kane and Michael Olise.
