Inter Milan are awaiting the results of further medical examinations before completing the transfer of Anan Khalaili from Union Saint-Gilloise, according to reports in Italy. The Israeli international underwent initial medical tests in Milan on Thursday, but the Italian National Olympic Committee’s (CONI) medical institute has requested additional assessments.
These follow-up examinations are scheduled to take place on Monday and Tuesday, and Inter will be unable to register Khalaili until they are completed. The club had hoped to quickly finalize the deal for the 22-year-old, who is viewed as a potential replacement for Denzel Dumfries.
Inter and Union Saint-Gilloise agreed to a transfer fee of €25 million plus bonuses for Khalaili after protracted negotiations. The right-back has been offered a five-year contract with the Nerazzurri, reportedly worth around €2.2 million net per season. The delay stems from the CONI’s need for further clarification on the results of the initial medical assessments.
Khalaili has been a key player for Union Saint-Gilloise since joining the Belgian side in 2022, contributing significantly to their attacking play from the right flank. He has established himself as a regular in the Israeli national team, earning 12 caps to date. Inter’s sporting director, Ausilio, has been actively involved in the transfer, viewing Khalaili as a vital addition to the squad.
The club are closely monitoring the situation and will make a final decision on the transfer once the results of the new medical tests are available. A resolution is expected by Tuesday, which will determine whether the deal proceeds as planned. Securing Khalaili would represent a significant step in Inter’s summer transfer business, strengthening their options at right-back.
