Leeds United are exploring potential deals for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki and Borussia Dortmund playmaker Julian Brandt, according to sources. While neither move is currently advanced, the club is actively investigating both options as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of another Premier League campaign.
Leeds secured their Premier League status for a second season last term under Daniel Farke, implementing a 3-5-1-1 formation that proved difficult for opponents. The club is now prioritizing quality over quantity in the transfer market, aiming to elevate their performance and climb the league table.
Japan international Zion Suzuki, 23, has emerged as a target to bolster Leeds’ goalkeeping options. Currently with Parma in Serie A, Suzuki has impressed with his distribution and shot-stopping ability, drawing comparisons to Italian legend Gigi Buffon. Parma value the goalkeeper around €40million (£34.5m, $45.5m) due to a release clause in his contract which runs until 2029, and multiple clubs, including Aston Villa and Manchester United, are also monitoring the situation. Villa have made direct contact with Suzuki’s representatives, viewing him as a potential replacement for Emiliano Martinez should the Argentine depart.
Leeds have made regular checks on Suzuki, compiling detailed scouting reports, though matching Parma’s valuation may prove challenging. The club sees him as a potential long-term solution in goal, attracted by his ball-playing ability which suits the modern game. Other European clubs, including Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Napoli, have also shown interest in the young keeper.
In addition to pursuing Suzuki, Leeds have also enquired about the availability of Julian Brandt, who is set to become a free agent upon leaving Borussia Dortmund this summer. The 30-year-old German playmaker has scored 57 goals and provided 70 assists in 307 appearances for Dortmund. However, securing Brandt’s signature is considered ‘difficult’ as he seeks a club offering European football. Aston Villa and Arsenal have also expressed interest, potentially leading to a competitive transfer race. Leeds will hope to persuade him with the promise of regular first-team football and the opportunity to work under compatriot Daniel Farke.
Brandt has 48 caps for Germany, though he was not included in their squad for the 2026 World Cup. His experience and creativity would undoubtedly add quality to Leeds’ midfield, but competition for his signature is expected to be fierce.
