Lille OSC have announced the signing of Swiss right-back Loun Srdanovic from Servette FC on a four-year contract. The 19-year-old joins the Ligue 1 club with one year remaining on his previous deal, and will likely compete for a starting role with Tiago Santos. The transfer was officially confirmed by the club on Monday.
The arrival of Srdanovic is intended to address the departure of Thomas Meunier, who left Lille at the end of his contract. Meunier’s exit created a vacancy at right-back, and the club has moved quickly to secure a replacement in the young Swiss defender. Srdanovic has progressed through the Servette academy and made 11 appearances in the Swiss Super League this season, gradually earning more playing time within the team’s rotation.
Lille president Olivier Létang praised Srdanovic’s potential, stating that he is “a young player with potential compatible with the very highest level and a profile that perfectly corresponds to the identity of the club and our playing philosophy.” This suggests the club views Srdanovic as a long-term project with the ability to develop into a key player.
Lille will compete in the Champions League this season, presenting a significant step up in competition for Srdanovic. He will need to adapt quickly to the demands of both the league and European football to establish himself in the squad. The signing represents a strategic move by Lille to strengthen their defensive options and prepare for a challenging season ahead. The move could also provide valuable depth as the club juggles multiple competitions.
The transfer window for Lille is now underway, with the arrival of Srdanovic preceding the expected appointment of Davide Ancelotti, recently eliminated from the World Cup with Brazil.
