Parma have completed the permanent signing of goalkeeper Giovanni Daffara from Juventus for a fee of approximately €6 million, the club confirmed. The 20-year-old joins the Emilia-Romagna side after a successful loan spell with Avellino last season, where he impressed with a series of key saves. The transfer represents a significant investment in youth for Parma, who are clearly looking to build around promising talent.
Negotiations between the two clubs have been ongoing for several weeks, with Parma consistently pursuing Daffara despite other potential options. Juventus ultimately agreed to the sale, receiving a reported €6 million fee, without including a buyback clause due to budgetary considerations. However, Parma may retain a percentage of any future resale of the player, potentially around 10%, pending final details of the agreement.
Daffara progressed through the Juventus youth system, eventually reaching the Next Gen squad before gaining valuable experience on loan. His performances for Avellino drew attention from several Serie A clubs, but Parma were able to secure his signature. The move allows Daffara the opportunity to establish himself as a first-team player, something that may have been difficult to achieve immediately at Juventus.
The transfer also clarifies Daffara’s position within Juventus’s transfer plans, removing him from potential negotiations with Genoa involving Jeff Ekhator and David Puczka. Juventus are reportedly exploring a deal for Ekhator, but Daffara was not part of that arrangement. Parma’s acquisition of Daffara strengthens their goalkeeping options and signals their ambition to compete in Serie A, while Juventus have generated a profit from a player who was unlikely to break into their first team in the near future. This move provides a clear pathway for Daffara’s development and offers Parma a promising young talent to build their defence around.
