Rangers are set to sign Serbian midfielder Vanja Dragojevic from Partizan Belgrade for a fee of £4million, with the 20-year-old expected in Glasgow today to finalise the move. The club confirmed that Dragojevic will undergo a medical and discuss personal terms before signing a long-term contract.
Dragojevic, who captains Partizan, has already represented Serbia at senior international level. His arrival is seen as a significant coup for new Rangers manager Derek McInnes, who is rebuilding the squad ahead of the new Scottish Premiership campaign. Sources close to the player indicate he is “very excited” about joining the club and progressing his career in Scotland.
McInnes has made no secret of his desire to bring in both experienced players and young talent, and Dragojevic fits that profile. The midfielder is known for his composure in possession, strong tackling ability, and leadership qualities, having been entrusted with the captaincy at a young age. Rangers have already added several players to their squad this transfer window, and Dragojevic is expected to be a key addition to the midfield.
Rangers are also reportedly in talks with Norwegian side Tromso regarding another young midfielder, Jens Hjerto-Dahl, though a competing bid from Cardiff City may threaten the deal. Tromso are seeking a substantial fee for the versatile player, who has impressed in the Eliteserien this season. The recent backing from the 49ers ownership group has allowed Rangers to shift their recruitment strategy, enabling them to target and secure promising young players from across Europe, rather than relying on older players on pre-contract agreements.
The acquisition of Dragojevic signals a change in direction for the club’s transfer policy, and McInnes is expected to continue strengthening the squad with further additions in the coming days. Rangers are also reportedly preparing a £7million deal as part of a potential four-player signing spree.
