Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to offer centre-back Luka Vuskovic a significantly improved contract in an attempt to deter interest from Barcelona, sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk.
The 19-year-old Croatian joined Spurs from Hajduk Split in 2025 before being immediately loaned to Bundesliga side Hamburg, where he has impressed with his composure, aerial ability, and ball-playing skills.
Tottenham’s hierarchy, led by director of football Johan Lange, view Vuskovic as a key component of their long-term defensive plans and have already held talks with the player in Germany regarding a new deal that reflects his development.
Barcelona have reportedly made fresh contact regarding a potential move for Vuskovic as they seek to strengthen their backline, but Tottenham are currently unwilling to sanction a sale, particularly if they maintain their Premier League status.
Vuskovic has previously expressed his expectation of returning to Tottenham after his loan spell, although that may be contingent on the club remaining in the top flight.
Retaining Vuskovic would be a notable achievement for a club often criticized for failing to develop young talent, and would signal a commitment to building for the future.
Officials believe that the proposed new contract will be sufficient to convince Vuskovic to remain at the club should Tottenham avoid relegation, offering him a clear pathway to first-team football under manager Roberto De Zerbi.
His performances in the Bundesliga have drawn attention from multiple top European clubs, highlighting his potential as one of the brightest young defenders in the game.
