Everton have resumed discussions with Genoa regarding a potential transfer for defender Brooke Norton-Cuffy, according to TEAMtalk. The Toffees have long held an interest in the England Under-21 international and are now exploring a permanent move during the current transfer window.
Everton have been actively seeking to strengthen their right-back options and have identified the 22-year-old as a priority target. Genoa are reportedly willing to sell Norton-Cuffy for a fee of around €20million (£17m, $23m), a valuation that falls within Everton’s budget. The club are also considering options on the left side of defence as part of a wider defensive overhaul.
Norton-Cuffy spent last season establishing himself in Serie A with Genoa, making a series of impressive appearances. He is a product of the Arsenal academy, but has sought regular first-team football elsewhere. Sources indicate that the opportunity to return to the Premier League is a significant draw for the player, who feels ready to test himself at a higher level in England.
Everton manager David Moyes is reportedly aiming to bring in a new starting right-back, which would allow Jake O’Brien to move into his preferred centre-back position. The potential arrival of Norton-Cuffy could facilitate this tactical shift. The defender also has existing relationships with several Everton players, including Tyrique George, Tyler Dibling, and Hayden Hackney, all of whom he has played with at the England Under-21 level.
However, Everton face competition for Norton-Cuffy’s signature. Sunderland are also monitoring the situation as they prepare for their return to European competition, and Fulham have also expressed interest in the versatile defender. Despite this competition, Everton are currently considered to be leading the race, encouraged by Genoa’s willingness to negotiate and Norton-Cuffy’s desire to return to England.
