Everton have completed the permanent signing of winger Tyrique George from Chelsea for a fee of approximately €21 million. The 20-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the Merseyside club, officially ending his long association with the Blues.
George joined Chelsea’s academy in 2014 and made his professional debut for the club in 2024, featuring in 37 matches before a loan spell to Everton. During his temporary stint at Goodison Park in the latter half of last season, he made 11 appearances, accumulating 230 minutes of playing time without registering a goal or assist. Despite limited impact during the loan, Everton have evidently been impressed enough to pursue a full transfer.
The move represents a significant investment for Everton in a young player with potential. George offers pace and trickery on the wing, attributes that manager Sean Dyche may see as valuable additions to his squad. For Chelsea, the sale allows them to further streamline their squad, a process that has been ongoing as they navigate Premier League financial regulations.
Chelsea’s academy has produced a large number of players in recent years, and the departure of George is part of a wider trend of young talents seeking regular first-team football elsewhere. The club has been active in both bringing in and moving on players this transfer window as they reshape the team under their current management.
This transfer could provide George with the consistent playing time needed to develop his potential and establish himself as a Premier League player. Everton will be hoping he can become a key contributor to their attacking options in the seasons to come.
