Fiorentina have appointed Fabio Grosso as their new manager, the club confirmed on Monday. Grosso has signed a two-year contract with an option for a third season, and will earn an annual salary of €1.2 million. He replaces Vincenzo Italiano, whose departure was announced previously.
The appointment of Grosso comes after a period of uncertainty for Fiorentina following their Coppa Italia final defeat to Napoli. Grosso, a World Cup winner with Italy in 2006, most recently managed Frosinone, guiding them to promotion to Serie A before departing at the end of the season. He is seen as a capable tactician who can bring stability and a clear identity to the Florence-based club.
Elsewhere in Serie A, Napoli have triggered the release clause to permanently sign Alisson Santos from Sporting Lisbon for a fee of €16.5 million. Santos will sign a contract with the club until 2030, with an option for a further year. Leonardo Spinazzola is also set to renew his contract with Napoli until 2028.
Como are reportedly preparing a significant transfer push, targeting players from Real Madrid as a reward for qualifying for the Champions League. They have initiated contact regarding Thiago Pitarch, a 2007-born midfielder, and are also interested in forward Gonzalo Garcia, who is also attracting attention from Borussia Dortmund and Juventus. The club are also attempting to retain Nico Paz, despite interest from José Mourinho. They are also monitoring Nicolò Cambiaghi of Bologna as a potential wide player and are preparing a bid for Tarik Muharemovic of Sassuolo.
Lazio are also active in the transfer market, with Diego Coppola of Brighton a key target to strengthen their defence following Alessio Romagnoli’s expected move to Al Sadd in Qatar. Romagnoli is poised to sign a three-year contract worth €6 million per year with the Qatari club. Lazio are also considering allowing Mattia Cancellieri to leave, as contract renewal talks have stalled.
Bologna are progressing towards a contract extension with Riccardo Orsolini until 2029, with an option for a further year, and are awaiting a response from Remo Freuler regarding a proposed contract renewal. Simon Sohm will return to Fiorentina after his loan spell at an unnamed club.
