Inter are poised to sign Marco Palestra from Atalanta in a deal that could reach over €50 million, according to reports from Italy. The Nerazzurri have offered €42 million plus bonuses for the 21-year-old winger, but Atalanta are currently holding out for a fee closer to €50 million plus add-ons.
Palestra enjoyed a breakthrough season with Cagliari during the 2023-24 campaign, earning a call-up to the Italian national team. His performances on the right wing have attracted significant interest, and Inter have identified him as a key target to strengthen their attacking options. The potential arrival of Palestra could also benefit the national team setup, with the possibility of him forming a strong partnership with Federico Dimarco on the flanks.
The transfer is being complicated by negotiations between the two clubs and the involvement of Alessandro Lucci, Palestra’s agent, who also represents Matteo Cocchi. Inter’s financial situation is also a factor, with Oaktree, the club’s owner, needing to approve the significant investment. The club are looking to fund the deal through the sale of Denzel Dumfries to Real Madrid for a reported €20 million, and the potential sale of Luis Henrique.
Luis Henrique, who arrived at Inter from Marseille for €22.8 million plus bonuses, is expected to depart this summer. The club are reportedly valuing him at €20 million, with interest from clubs in France and the Premier League. Inter manager Cristian Chivu also intends to convert Andy Diouf into a full-back, believing he possesses the drive and courage lacking in Henrique. Darmian has also departed the club after his contract expired. The moves signal a significant reshaping of Inter’s squad ahead of the new season, with a focus on youth and dynamism.
