Italian midfielder Giacomo Faticanti has completed a loan move to Serie B side Avellino from Juventus, the clubs confirmed. The 20-year-old will spend the season with Avellino, gaining valuable experience in Italy’s second tier.
Faticanti has been a regular for Juventus Next Gen for the past two seasons, developing into a promising talent. He recently received his first call-up to the Italian national team, making his debut in June’s friendly matches under coach Paolo Baldini, to whom he expressed gratitude during his presentation. The move to Avellino represents a significant step in his career, allowing him to test himself at a higher level.
According to Faticanti, the interest from Avellino was longstanding, dating back to January, but he opted to finalize his departure from Juventus before considering other options. He stated he immediately chose Avellino once the summer transfer window opened. The midfielder described himself as a ‘modern’ player, comfortable playing as either a deep-lying playmaker or a more advanced central midfielder, noting the coach’s desire for central midfielders to be influential.
Juventus clearly retain faith in Faticanti’s potential, having recently exercised their option to buy him permanently from Lecce before agreeing to loan him to Avellino. The club secured his services with a contract extending until June 2029, indicating their long-term vision for the player. The loan is a ‘dry’ loan, meaning Avellino will cover Faticanti’s wages without an obligation to purchase him at the end of the season. Juventus will hope he returns a more seasoned player ready to compete for a place in the first team. Faticanti expressed his ambition to play regularly and contribute to Avellino’s success, while also keeping his international aspirations alive.
