Eintracht Frankfurt have agreed a deal to sign midfielder Noel Aseko from Bayern Munich, according to Sport1. The transfer fee is reported to be between €10 million and €12 million.
Aseko’s journey to Frankfurt is somewhat unusual, having only recently been re-signed by Bayern from Hannover 96 after the Bavarian club activated a buyback clause. He initially joined Bayern’s youth setup before moving to Hannover in 2022. His impressive form for Hannover last season seemingly prompted Bayern to trigger that clause, but now the player is set for a swift departure once more.
The 20-year-old Germany U21 international is expected to sign a long-term contract with Frankfurt, extending until 2030, with the option of a further year. This commitment from both sides indicates a strong belief in Aseko’s potential and a desire for a sustained partnership.
Aseko enjoyed a productive 2023-24 season in the 2. Bundesliga with Hannover 96, directly contributing to nine goals in 32 league appearances – scoring three times and providing six assists. His performances caught the eye of several clubs, ultimately leading to Bayern’s initial move and now a transfer to Frankfurt.
The move to Eintracht Frankfurt represents an opportunity for Aseko to secure more consistent first-team football than he would likely have received at the Allianz Arena, where competition for midfield places is fierce. Frankfurt, under Dino Toppmöller, are building a young and dynamic squad, and Aseko’s arrival will further strengthen their options in the centre of the pitch. This transfer allows Frankfurt to add a promising talent to their ranks while Bayern recoup a significant portion of their investment, potentially freeing up funds for other targets.
Frankfurt finished seventh in the Bundesliga last season, narrowly missing out on European qualification, and will be hoping Aseko’s arrival will help them push for a top-six finish in the upcoming campaign.
