Frederic Massara has been named the new technical director of Juventus, the club announced on Tuesday. The appointment comes just one month after Massara’s departure from AS Roma.
Massara will be responsible for “supervising the management and development of the men’s football section” according to the club statement. Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali expressed his delight at welcoming Massara, stating that his expertise and in-depth football knowledge would be a valuable addition to the club’s organizational structure.
This move represents a significant restructuring effort for Juventus following the departure of former General Manager Damien Comolli. As part of the broader reorganization, Giorgio Chiellini has been promoted to the role of director of club affairs. Chiellini’s new role will focus on strengthening Juventus’s ability to engage with key institutions, strategic partners, and sporting organizations both in Italy and internationally.
Massara brings a wealth of experience to Juventus, having previously served as a sporting director at Rennes before his time with Roma. He has a reputation for astute player recruitment and a deep understanding of European football. His arrival is intended to provide stability and direction to Juventus’s football operations as the club aims to return to the top of Serie A.
The appointment of Massara signals a clear intent from Juventus to rebuild its sporting structure and compete for major honors again. The club has faced scrutiny in recent seasons, and this restructuring is seen as a crucial step in addressing those challenges and establishing a sustainable path to success.
