Ryan Friedkin has arrived at Roma’s Trigoria training ground to begin planning the club’s future, according to reports in Italy. The visit, conducted discreetly, comes as the club prepares for the final matches of the Serie A season and navigates key decisions regarding personnel and squad strengthening. Friedkin is working alongside newly appointed manager Daniele Gasperini to address outstanding issues, most notably the search for a new Sporting Director following the impending departure of Massara.
Tony D’Amico is currently Gasperini’s preferred candidate for the role, with Giovanni Manna also under consideration, though the ownership is reportedly open to further suggestions. The appointment is considered crucial as Roma look to build a sustainable strategy for future transfer windows and player development.
Alongside the managerial search, contract renewals are a priority, with negotiations ongoing with Lorenzo Pellegrini, Mehmet Celik, and Paulo Dybala. Dybala, in particular, is reportedly keen to extend his stay in Rome, and his representatives are awaiting clarity from the Friedkin ownership regarding their intentions. The situation follows the recent departure of Monchi, and the owners are taking stock of all outstanding issues.
Discussions with Gasperini will also focus on potential transfer targets, with the coach reportedly requesting three reinforcements, including a move for PSV Eindhoven’s Noa Lang. Planning for the pre-season training camp is also underway, with Gasperini expressing a desire to hold part of the camp in a mountainous location. While communication between the coach and ownership has been primarily conducted over the phone thus far, the arrival of Ryan Friedkin, and potentially Dan Friedkin in the coming days, signals a more intensive period of planning.
The Friedkin family’s commitment to Roma has been a subject of scrutiny, with questions raised about their overall investment in football, including their ownership stakes in other clubs. This visit is intended to demonstrate a renewed focus on the Serie A side and a collaborative approach with the new manager to shape the club’s trajectory.
