Manchester United are reportedly willing to sell Bruno Fernandes to Galatasaray for a fee of £42 million (50 million euros), according to journalist Süleyman Rodop via haber sarikirmizi. The Turkish giants are said to be keen on the Portuguese midfielder, who has been a key player for United since joining the club in January 2020.
This potential sale comes despite a recent shift in United’s stance regarding Fernandes’ future. After speculation linking him with a move to the Saudi Pro League, the club had indicated their desire to offer him a new long-term contract following his impressive performances last season, where he played a significant role in securing Champions League qualification for the Red Devils. However, a release clause of £56 million remains in his current contract, opening the door for potential suitors.
Galatasaray are reportedly aware that Fernandes has a salary expectation of 20 million euros per year net, which could prove a stumbling block in negotiations. The club is currently focusing on strengthening their midfield and attack, with Fernandes identified as a priority target. Rodop suggests Galatasaray are pursuing wingers but view securing a number 10, like Fernandes, as crucial before finalizing further additions.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have been advised to abandon their pursuit of Carlos Baleba, a long-term midfield target. A source speaking to Football Insider claims that the club has “serious doubts” about Baleba’s current form, citing a perceived decline in his performances last season. The source stated that Baleba appeared “distracted, slow, and lethargic” at times, raising concerns about his suitability for a key role in United’s midfield, particularly as a potential replacement for Casemiro.
United have already secured the signings of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, bolstering their midfield options. They were previously linked with Fulham’s Sander Berge, with a reported £40 million price tag, but the uncertainty surrounding Baleba’s form may prompt them to revisit that option. The situation underscores United’s ongoing efforts to rebuild their squad under new ownership.
