Ilyes Housni has signed a three-year contract with AS Nancy-Lorraine, the Ligue 2 club announced on Wednesday morning. The 21-year-old forward joins Nancy as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. Housni will be looking to reignite his career after a period of loan spells and limited opportunities in the French capital.
Housni progressed through the PSG academy, arriving at the club in 2019. He enjoyed a productive 2022-2023 season with the PSG under-19s and in the Youth League, scoring eight goals in seven matches. That form earned him a brief spell with the PSG first team under Christophe Galtier, where he made 14 minutes of appearances in January and February 2023.
However, Housni was subsequently loaned out to Al-Sadd in Qatar, where he made six appearances and scored one goal. A further loan spell followed at Le Havre, but he failed to find the back of the net in 13 appearances. Despite showing promise at youth level, Housni struggled to establish himself during these loan periods, prompting his departure from PSG.
Nancy will hope that a more consistent run of first-team football in Ligue 2 will allow Housni to develop his potential. The club is rebuilding after recent struggles, and the addition of a mobile forward like Housni could prove valuable as they aim to challenge higher up the table. This move represents a significant opportunity for Housni to demonstrate his capabilities and potentially return to the higher levels of French football in the future.
