Real Madrid are considering a summer move for Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, according to reports from Argentine outlet Ole. The potential transfer comes as Jose Mourinho is expected to be named the new manager of Real Madrid following the club’s elections this week, having already reportedly signed a contract with Benfica.
Madrid have already agreed a €20 million deal for Inter’s Denzel Dumfries and are set to sign Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer after the defender announced his departure from Liverpool at the end of his contract. Mac Allister has now emerged as a key target for president Florentino Perez, should he win the upcoming election on June 7.
Mac Allister joined Liverpool in 2023 for a reported €42 million and has become a pivotal player, featuring in 37 of the club’s 38 Premier League matches last season. His versatility, capable of playing in both defensive and advanced midfield roles, is particularly appealing to Madrid. The 27-year-old’s current contract at Anfield is set to expire in 2028, and no new contract negotiations have yet begun, potentially opening the door for a transfer.
Atletico Madrid are also monitoring Mac Allister’s situation after missing out on their primary target, Ederson, who has agreed to join Manchester United. The presence of Diego Simeone and several Argentine internationals at Atletico could also prove attractive to the Liverpool midfielder. However, the final decision may rest with Andoni Iraola, recently appointed as Liverpool’s new head coach, and whether he deems Mac Allister essential to his plans. Iraola’s willingness to sanction a departure will likely depend on securing a suitable replacement.
