Inter Milan are in discussions with Nottingham Forest regarding a potential transfer of midfielder Davide Frattesi, with hopes of finalizing a deal within the next week. According to reports from Italy, representatives from both clubs met in Milan to discuss the move, confirming the Premier League side’s interest in the player.
Nottingham Forest previously attempted to sign Frattesi during the January transfer window, submitting a loan offer with an option to buy, but the bid was not accepted. While Inter initially valued the 24-year-old at €30 million, it is understood they now recognize his market value has decreased. Forest are reportedly preparing an offer of around €25 million for the Italy international.
Frattesi’s playing time at Inter has diminished under coach Andrea Chivu compared to his previous role under Simone Inzaghi. Last season, he made 33 appearances across all competitions, failing to score in 1,133 minutes of play, and started only six matches. This represents a decline in form and opportunity compared to the 2023/24 season, where he scored eight goals in 1,555 minutes, and the 2022/23 season, with seven goals in 1,986 minutes.
Several Italian clubs, including Juventus, Roma, and Napoli, are also reportedly interested in acquiring Frattesi. However, Inter are seemingly open to a sale to Nottingham Forest, recognizing the need to adjust their valuation. The player himself faces a decision between potentially accepting a move to the Premier League or waiting for a more concrete offer from an Italian side. A lack of consistent playing time could also jeopardize his place in the Italian national team setup under a new coach.
The potential transfer could provide Frattesi with the opportunity for regular first-team football, while allowing Inter to recoup a significant fee for a player who has seen his role reduced within the squad.
