Inter Milan are planning an ambitious summer transfer window under the guidance of new sporting director Cristian Chivu, alongside Beppe Marotta, Piero Ausilio, and Dario Baccin. The club’s leadership convened for three hours to map out their strategy, with discussions focused on reinforcing the squad for a potential shift to a 3-4-2-1 formation.
While the renewal of head coach Simone Inzaghi’s contract was not directly addressed during the meeting – his representatives were not present – the club confirmed it will be finalized as a formality after the conclusion of the current season. Chivu is expected to sign a contract extension until 2028, with a significant increase to his salary, exceeding three million euros plus bonuses. Crucially, Chivu prioritizes maintaining Inter’s competitiveness, requiring the addition of dynamic, versatile players.
One key target is Manu Koné, currently at Roma, who could become available due to Atalanta’s need to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations. Inter previously showed interest in Koné last summer, viewing him as a potential replacement for Mandela Keita’s role during his time at Parma. Roma are reportedly seeking 40 million euros for the midfielder, and Inter will need to finalize any deal before June 30th to adhere to UEFA’s financial regulations. The club believes Koné’s arrival would allow them to comfortably field an extra attacker in their preferred system.
Inter are also monitoring Curtis Jones of Liverpool, impressed by his ability to play multiple positions, including as an attacking midfielder – a role that will be vacated by Davide Frattesi. Jones has reportedly indicated his willingness to join Inter, having previously given them a positive response in January, but Liverpool have yet to set a price for the player. Inter are also considering bringing back Aleksandar Stankovic from Club Brugge, though his long-term future at the club is uncertain given the interest from other teams. They continue to pursue Nico Paz, and are monitoring right-back Denzel Dumfries, who is attracting attention from Premier League clubs.
In defense, Stefan de Vrij is set to renew his contract for another year, albeit on reduced terms. However, Benjamin Pavard, who spent last season on loan at Marseille, is not expected to be retained, prompting the search for a new central defender.
