Inter Milan are preparing an increased offer for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, according to reports from Italy. The Serie A champions initially offered €20 million for the 23-year-old, but Liverpool are holding out for a fee of €30 million.
Jones has been a target for Inter since January, with the club identifying him as a key reinforcement for their midfield. The Englishman offers versatility, capable of playing both in central midfield and as an attacking midfielder – a quality highly valued by the Nerazzurri coaching staff. He has spent his entire career with Liverpool, joining the club’s academy at the age of nine and accumulating over 200 appearances for the Reds.
Liverpool are keen to avoid losing Jones on a free transfer, as his current contract expires in 2027, allowing him to discuss pre-contract terms with other clubs in six months. Selling him now would also represent a significant profit for the club, realizing a transfer fee for a player developed through their academy system. Jones was not selected for international duty this summer, and was recently spotted attending the Monaco Grand Prix.
Italy appears to hold a positive impression for Jones, who reportedly discussed the lifestyle with Juventus winger Federico Chiesa. Chiesa described Italy as a “special” place with better weather than Liverpool, and praised Jones’ technical ability. He also proposed to his fiancée, Saffron, at a villa on Lake Como last year, further suggesting an affinity for the country. Inter’s pursuit of Jones is driven by a desire to strengthen their squad after a successful season domestically, and to improve their performance in European competition following a disappointing playoff exit. A successful transfer would provide Inter with a dynamic midfielder and avoid a potential auction for his signature.
