Inter have begun preparations for the new season following their Serie A title win, with players returning to training at Appiano Gentile. The squad is currently missing players who participated in the recent Women's World Cup, including Lautaro, Thuram, Calhanoglu, Sucic, Akanji, and Bonny, who will join the group after a three-week break. Coach Christian Chivu and president Beppe Marotta are expected to address the media today to discuss the upcoming season and the challenge of defending their Scudetto, as well as improving their Champions League performance.
Among those present for the start of training is new signing Ivan Provedel, a goalkeeper arriving from Lazio. He is expected to serve as backup to first-choice keeper Josep Martinez. Provedel represents the club’s only significant acquisition so far this summer, with Massolin having joined earlier and Aleksandar Stankovic already familiar with the club’s system. Both midfielders will be evaluated during the pre-season camp, but former Modena player is likely to be sold, while the son of Dejan Stankovic will be given a chance to develop under Chivu.
The situation surrounding Benjamin Pavard is less certain. After a loan spell at Marseille, the French defender has returned to Inter but appears to be a player on his way out, with potential interest from clubs in the Turkish Super Lig. Pavard, once warmly embraced by the Inter faithful, now seems intent on finding a new club. Midfielder Asllani is also considered surplus to requirements and is seeking a new destination, while Davide Frattesi’s future remains unresolved despite expectations he would have departed before the start of pre-season.
The team will depart for a training camp in Donaueschingen, Germany, on Thursday, where they will remain until July 26th. The arrival of Provedel strengthens Inter’s goalkeeping options, while the potential departures of Pavard, Asllani, and Frattesi could free up funds and space in the squad for further additions before the start of the Serie A season. Inter will be looking to build on their domestic success and make a deeper run in the Champions League this term.
