Swiss midfielder Ardon Jashari will remain at AC Milan despite reported interest from several Italian and foreign clubs, including Atalanta, according to a report from Milan-based news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport. The 23-year-old recently participated in the World Cup with Switzerland, starting in their round of sixteen match against Colombia.
Jashari joined Milan last summer from Club Brugge for a reported €34 million plus bonuses, making him the club’s second-most expensive signing at the time, behind only Christopher Nkunku’s move to Chelsea. However, his first season in Italy proved disappointing, with the player struggling to adapt to new training methods and suffering a fractured fibula in August following a collision with teammate Gimenez during training.
The arrival of new manager Ruben Amorim is expected to provide Jashari with a fresh start. Amorim reportedly views the player as a key component of his plans for the team, intending to build the midfield around his qualities. Despite the potential for Luka Modric to remain at the club, Amorim’s tactical approach is expected to allow Jashari more playing time.
Jashari’s commitment to Milan is reinforced by his long-term contract, which runs until 2030, and his expressed desire to succeed with the club. He actively chose Milan over other potential suitors last summer, and has reiterated his intention to establish himself in the team. The club reciprocates this belief, viewing him as a key player alongside Adrien Rabiot, especially with potential departures of Fofana and Loftus-Cheek and Modric potentially taking on a reduced role. This represents a significant vote of confidence in the young midfielder’s potential.
