Juventus are contemplating a move to re-sign winger Matias Soulé from Roma, according to reports in Italy. Roma are open to selling the Argentinian international, and Soulé himself is reportedly keen on a return to Turin.
Juventus sold Soulé to Roma in 2024 for a fee of €25.6 million, plus a potential €4 million in add-ons, as they sought to register capital gains. Roma are now looking to recoup their investment, and potentially profit further, with Al-Ahli having submitted a bid of €35 million plus €5 million in bonuses. However, Soulé is unwilling to move to Saudi Arabia.
Stuttgart have also expressed interest in Soulé, but his agent has recently communicated the player’s preference for a return to Juventus. While he would no longer be working under Cristiano Giuntoli, who previously decided to exclude him from the first team, Soulé would reunite with those who nurtured his development within the Juventus Next Gen squad, and with coach Luciano Spalletti, who previously attempted to persuade him to represent Italy instead of Argentina.
Juventus’s financial situation is a factor, as they need to generate €13 million in capital gains by the end of June. A deal for Soulé could be facilitated by a player exchange, potentially involving Hans Hateboer, with Juventus offering Koopmeiners, who is reportedly seeking a return to Atalanta, to Roma. Soulé’s return to Turin would add youthful energy and a sense of belonging to the attacking options, potentially increasing the overall quality of the squad. Furthermore, Juventus could benefit financially from the deal, as they retain a 10% sell-on clause from the original transfer agreement.
Soulé has shown promise in Serie A, demonstrating his ability to play on either wing, typically favouring to cut inside onto his stronger left foot. He has been a regular contributor for Roma since his move, and his return to Juventus could offer Spalletti a familiar and dynamic attacking option.
