Juventus are prepared to sell midfielder Khephren Thuram to alleviate financial pressures following a settlement agreement with UEFA, according to reports in Italy. The club is facing a financial squeeze and must raise funds to strengthen the squad ahead of next season, particularly in midfield.
Juventus are reportedly prioritizing either Franck Kessie or Stanislav Lobotka to bolster their midfield options, but their ability to sign either player is contingent on player sales. The situation is complicated by the club’s need to balance the books after failing to qualify for the Champions League, and the arrival of Giovanni Carnevali as a director has not altered the club’s financial constraints.
Thuram has attracted interest from several major European clubs, including Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, and Galatasaray, with Liverpool reportedly making initial inquiries weeks ago. Juventus would be willing to part with the French midfielder for a fee exceeding €40 million, a figure similar to the valuation of Andrea Cambiaso, who had also been considered for sale. However, the club would prefer to retain Cambiaso due to recent departures in the left-back position.
While Bremer’s potential departure had been discussed, his representatives are reportedly working to prevent a transfer. This has led Juventus to consider Thuram as a more viable option for a sale. Kessie, currently a free agent, has expressed a willingness to lower his wage demands to return to Italy, while Lobotka continues to stall on a contract renewal with Napoli, potentially opening the door for a move. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is unlikely to sanction a sale to a Serie A rival.
Kessie recently stated, following the elimination of Ivory Coast from the World Cup, that a move to Juventus “would be a great signing,” highlighting his interest in joining the club. Juventus are awaiting concrete offers for Thuram, and until a suitable bid arrives, progress on deals for Kessie and Lobotka remains stalled.
