Juventus are working to reshape their attacking options ahead of the new season, with Jonathan David and Lois Openda both potential departures, according to reports in Italy. The club are aiming to create space within the squad, and players deemed surplus to requirements will continue to train with the group during pre-season while awaiting potential moves.
Openda is currently considered the most likely to leave, with a loan deal being the most realistic outcome given the obligatory purchase clause of €44 million. Juventus are hoping to sign two physical centre-forwards this transfer window, with Ekhator already arriving as an initial addition. Selling or loaning Openda would free up space and funds for another forward.
David’s situation is more complex. Manager Massimiliano Spalletti has indicated he does not feature in the club’s plans, but the player is reportedly determined to stay and honour his contract, which has four years remaining at a net salary of €6 million per season. This presents a challenge for the Juventus board, who are attempting to navigate the situation diplomatically.
Juventus are exploring a potential swap deal with Paris Saint-Germain, linking David with a move for Randal Kolo Muani. This would allow both clubs to address their attacking needs, but the possibility of securing a significant profit on David, who arrived on a free transfer, hinges on him joining a major club. The report suggests that a deal for Kolo Muani is the most promising avenue, though it does not guarantee space for a second new number nine as requested by Spalletti. The club acknowledges that some sales may require patience and even a willingness from players to renegotiate contract terms. The priority remains to reduce the squad size and generate funds for further recruitment.
