Juventus are prioritizing the signing of Parma forward Mateo Pellegrino, a shift in strategy from their previous focus on established names like Kolo Muani, Vlahovic, and Sorloth, according to reports in Italy. The club is under pressure to bolster their attacking options for new manager Luciano Spalletti, with the need for at least two new forwards identified.
The change in approach stems from a combination of factors, including positive relationships with Parma, who are open to selling the player, and a lack of clarity surrounding the futures of other attacking options. Players such as Openda and Jonathan David are not currently considered priorities, while Arkadiusz Milik is expected to leave the club. Youngster Ekhator is seen as a promising talent but insufficient on his own to lead the line for Spalletti.
Pellegrino, 20, has reportedly attracted interest from clubs in the Premier League and La Liga, increasing the urgency for Juventus to secure his signature. The club has submitted an initial offer to Parma: a one-year loan with an obligation to buy for €30 million if certain conditions are met, specifically a top-ten Serie A finish. Parma has rejected this initial proposal, preferring an immediate permanent transfer or a more substantial loan fee.
Juventus have requested a brief period to assess developments regarding potential moves for Kolo Muani and Vlahovic. Should Paris Saint-Germain accept a bid of €37 million plus bonuses for either player, Juventus would prioritize securing Kolo Muani. However, this remains uncertain, making Pellegrino a more immediate target. The financial constraints imposed by the Settlement Agreement are also influencing Juventus’ transfer strategy, emphasizing the need to capitalize on opportunities to avoid financial repercussions.
The situation is described as being close to resolution, with ongoing negotiations between the two clubs. Juventus are keen to add Pellegrino to their squad quickly, recognizing the interest from other European clubs and the need to provide Spalletti with attacking reinforcements.
