Noham Kamara has completed a permanent transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to Olympique Lyonnais, the clubs confirmed on Wednesday. The 19-year-old defender joined Lyon on loan during the January transfer window and has now signed a long-term deal with the club.
Lyon have exercised the €4.1 million option to buy included in the loan agreement. The deal could potentially rise to €6.1 million with an additional €2 million in performance-based bonuses. Paris Saint-Germain will also retain a 20% interest in any future sell-on fee should Lyon profit from a subsequent transfer of Kamara.
Kamara progressed through the youth ranks at PSG, making two Ligue 1 appearances for the Parisian club this season before his move to Lyon. He represents France at the under-20 international level, demonstrating his potential on the international stage. The move provides Kamara with the opportunity for more consistent first-team football, something that was not guaranteed at the star-studded Parc des Princes.
Lyon, currently operating under budgetary constraints, have secured a promising young talent for a reasonable fee. The club will welcome Kamara back for the start of pre-season training on June 29th, with a view to integrating him into the squad ahead of their Champions League qualifying campaign, beginning on August 4th or 5th. This transfer bolsters Lyon’s defensive options as they prepare for a challenging season both domestically and in Europe.
