Juventus are pursuing both Tijjani Reijnders of Manchester City and Brahim Diaz of Real Madrid as potential reinforcements for their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season, according to reports in Italy. Manager Luciano Spalletti has reportedly communicated his desire for players who are technically gifted and effective in tight spaces to club president John Elkann.
While Champions League qualification would significantly improve the club’s financial flexibility, the Bianconeri are actively exploring options regardless. The pursuit of Bernardo Silva has reportedly stalled, leading to increased focus on Reijnders and Diaz as alternatives. A failure to qualify for the Champions League would result in a significant reduction in UEFA prize money, estimated at between 55-60 million euros.
Reijnders joined Manchester City from AC Milan last summer for a reported 57.7 million euros plus 14 million euros in potential add-ons, which are tied to his sale before the summer of 2030. Juventus would likely need to structure a deal involving a substantial loan with a conditional obligation to buy for around 40 million euros in 2027 to afford the Dutch midfielder. Reijnders currently earns 7 million euros net per year, presenting a further financial hurdle. Despite a strong start to his City career, making 29 starts in 46 appearances and contributing 7 goals and 8 assists, Reijnders has seen his playing time diminish, starting only once in his last 13 Premier League matches. He is capable of playing as a central midfielder or as a more advanced attacking midfielder.
Brahim Diaz represents a more attainable target for Juventus. The Spaniard, previously with AC Milan where he won a Serie A title in 2022, has a contract with Real Madrid that expires in 2027, though he is currently negotiating a renewal to 2031. His lower salary – half of Reijnders’ – and lower overall cost make him a more realistic option. Diaz is considered a better fit for Spalletti’s desired profile, possessing strong dribbling skills and playmaking ability. While not prolific in front of goal, he has proven to be a valuable asset in attack and can also play as a winger.
