Juventus are in advanced discussions to sign Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski on a free transfer this summer, according to reports from Italy and Spain. The 35-year-old Polish international is said to view a move to Turin as his most appealing option should he leave the Catalan club, with his agent, Pini Zahavi, having already held a positive preliminary meeting with the Bianconeri hierarchy. The proposed deal would see Lewandowski sign a one-year contract worth a base salary of €6 million, supplemented by performance-related bonuses.
Lewandowski's potential departure from Barcelona stems from the club's reported unwillingness to revise a recent contract renewal offer, which would see his wages significantly reduced. With his current deal expiring in 2025, a free transfer this summer would allow Barcelona to remove a major salary from their books while granting the player one final major European challenge. For Juventus, the move represents a low-cost, high-profile addition aligned with the vision of coach Luciano Spalletti, who is said to be a strong advocate for the signing.
The veteran forward has remained a consistent performer for Barcelona this season, scoring 17 goals across all competitions. Despite turning 36 in August, Juventus's interest is reportedly predicated on his maintained physical and performance data, drawing parallels to the club's successful signing of the experienced Alisson Becker. The report suggests Juventus believes Lewandowski's quality could still dominate in Serie A, following in the footsteps of other veterans like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Luka Modric who excelled in Italy's top flight later in their careers.
A critical condition for the transfer, imposed by Lewandowski himself, is that Juventus must secure qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League. The club currently sits in a strong position to achieve that goal, which would provide the European platform the striker desires. While AC Milan had also shown interest, they are now reportedly focusing efforts elsewhere, potentially on Alexander Sorloth. Other competition could come from lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia or MLS, but Lewandowski is said to prioritize a competitive European project.
While talks are progressing, a final agreement is not expected imminently. Further detailed discussions between Zahavi and Juventus are anticipated closer to the end of the Serie A season, once the club's Champions League status is mathematically assured. In the meantime, Juventus are also said to be maintaining a secondary option in the form of a move for Paris Saint-Germain's Randal Kolo Muani, who is due to return from a loan spell at Tottenham.
