Negotiations are ongoing between Juventus and Bologna regarding a potential double deal involving midfielder Fabio Miretti and defender Stefan Lucumì, according to reports in Italy. Talks have been progressing for several days, but an agreement has yet to be reached.
Juventus are reportedly seeking to generate a profit of €13 million by June 30th to comply with UEFA’s financial fair play regulations, and the sale of Miretti is seen as a key component in achieving this. Bologna are willing to pay a fee that would help Juventus balance their books, but Bologna’s CEO Riccardo Carnevali is seeking a discount on Lucumì.
If Juventus were to purchase Lucumì for the price Bologna is requesting, Miretti would be sold for €14 million. However, Juventus are hesitant to meet Bologna’s valuation of Lucumì, which currently stands at €28 million, with a clause expiring in mid-July. Juventus are offering up to €18 million plus potential bonuses, hoping to reach a total of €22-23 million. A compromise will need to be found to ensure Bologna maintains the structure of the Miretti deal.
Fabio Miretti, a product of Juventus’ youth academy, has expressed his gratitude to the club but is seeking more regular playing time. The 20-year-old midfielder has struggled for consistent starts in Turin and a move to Bologna would likely offer him a more prominent role. Lucumì, a 29-year-old defender, has been a key player for Bologna and Juventus view him as a valuable addition to their squad. The successful completion of these deals would provide Juventus with the financial flexibility to pursue other transfer targets this summer.
Juventus are also reportedly listening to offers for other players, but no other deals have come close to generating the necessary €13 million in profit. The club’s new leadership is keen to adhere to the financial guidelines set by the ownership, while also addressing the team’s technical needs.
