Patrick Videira has extended his contract with Le Mans FC, the club announced on Wednesday. The 49-year-old manager’s deal now runs until the end of the 2028-2029 season, having initially been set to expire in 2027. The extension comes after a successful period for Videira, culminating in leading Le Mans to consecutive promotions into Ligue 1.
Recent reports, according to L’Équipe, had linked Videira with potential moves to Lorient, following the departure of Olivier Pantaloni, and Lens, where he was considered as a replacement for Pierre Sage who moved to England. However, the manager has committed his future to Le Mans, a decision welcomed by the club’s ownership.
Pedro Oliveira, co-founder of the Outfield fund and Le Mans’ majority shareholder, expressed his satisfaction with the extension. He told L’Équipe that the club believes stability and continuity are vital, and that Videira has proven himself a leader, successfully guiding the team to the top flight of French football. Oliveira acknowledged the challenges of the upcoming season but voiced confidence in Videira’s ability to deliver.
Videira took charge of Le Mans and oversaw a period of significant growth, culminating in their return to Ligue 1. The club is now preparing for the challenges of competing in the French top flight, and the ownership group hopes that Videira’s leadership will be key to maintaining their status. This contract extension signals a long-term commitment from both the manager and the club, aiming to build a sustainable project in Ligue 1.
