Torino are now able to begin negotiations for Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone, following a resolution to a directorial issue at the Puglia-based club. Lecce recently appointed their sporting director, Stefano Trinchera, as technical director following the departure of Pantaleo Corvino, providing Torino with a clear point of contact for discussions regarding Falcone.
Torino officials Urbano Cairo and Gianluca Petrachi had been awaiting clarity on Lecce’s directorial structure before progressing with their interest in the goalkeeper. They previously deemed Franco Israel, another Lecce player, unsuitable and are seeking a more established option than the Uruguayan, who is now expected to be sold with clubs being sought abroad for the player.
Falcone has been a key figure in Lecce’s survival in Serie A over the past four seasons, consistently demonstrating reliability in goal. The player himself has reportedly expressed a desire to explore opportunities with another club, and Lecce are prepared to consider offers deemed appropriate. Torino, however, will need to meet Lecce’s valuation.
Lecce have reportedly valued Falcone around €5 million, but Torino believe they have an asset to offer in return: Alieu Njie. The Swedish winger is of interest to Lecce and could be offered on loan to secure more playing time. Torino coach Ignazio Abate will first assess Njie’s suitability to his tactical plans, particularly within a 3-4-2-1 formation, before any deal is finalized. The potential inclusion of Njie in negotiations is seen as a way to strengthen Torino’s position and potentially fend off any competing offers for Falcone.
Petrachi is also monitoring other goalkeeping options, including Dominik Livakovic of Fenerbahce, who is currently competing at the World Cup with Croatia, and Lorenzo Montipò of Verona, who may be available following the club’s relegation to Serie B. Furthermore, discussions are ongoing with Spezia regarding Diego Mascardi, with a meeting scheduled to attempt to reach an agreement after already securing a personal agreement with the player. Spezia are seeking €2.5 million plus a 20% sell-on clause, while Torino are hoping to pay no more than €1.2 million. Mascardi would initially serve as a backup to the first-choice goalkeeper, potentially alongside Alberto Paleari, or could be loaned out to gain further experience.
