Leeds United and Everton are both monitoring the situation of Juventus striker Lois Openda, with the Italian club prepared to sell the Belgian international this summer. Juventus are seeking to recoup between €35-40 million (£34.5m, $46m) for the 26-year-old, who has struggled to make an impact since joining the club.
Openda arrived at Juventus initially on loan, with the deal becoming permanent, but limited playing time and inconsistent performances have led the Turin side to consider his departure. He scored just twice in 34 appearances for the club and was not selected for the recent World Cup squad. According to sources, Juventus are keen to reinvest funds from a sale into other areas of their squad.
Leeds are reportedly among the most interested parties, viewing Openda as a potential focal point for their attack and a player who could benefit from a move to the Premier League. The Whites are prepared to spend significantly on a new striker this summer, seeking cover and competition alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha. Openda’s representatives have been in contact with several English clubs, including Leeds, Everton, and Nottingham Forest, exploring options for a transfer.
Everton are also considering a move for Openda, though they may need to offload a current striker before pursuing a deal. Nottingham Forest are also monitoring the situation, looking to strengthen their forward line ahead of another Premier League campaign. Interest also exists from outside of England, with AS Monaco and Eintracht Frankfurt both expressing interest in the player.
Openda has a strong goalscoring record overall, with 106 senior goals in 310 appearances, including an impressive 41 goals in 93 games for RB Leipzig. A return to form in the Premier League could see him recapture the dynamism and clinical finishing that made him a sought-after player in Europe. However, any potential suitor will need to address his recent lack of confidence.
