Leeds United have been linked with a move for Juventus defender Lloyd Kelly, though a transfer is not currently being actively pursued, according to Graham Smyth of the Yorkshire Evening Post. The update came on the Inside Elland Road Podcast, where Smyth detailed the club’s summer transfer plans.
Leeds are aiming to bolster their squad following a 14th-place finish in the Premier League last season, a significant improvement driven by a mid-season tactical shift to a 3-5-1-1 formation. Owners 49ers Enterprises are reportedly planning five to six quality additions, with a focus on strengthening multiple positions.
The Whites are targeting a new goalkeeper, a striker, and a central midfielder, with the signing of Harry Wilson nearing completion after a four-year deal was agreed. A key area of need has emerged following the departure of Pascal Struijk to Brighton for an initial £15 million, plus add-ons and a sell-on clause.
While Kelly, who joined Juventus in May 2025 for €17.5 million and is now valued at approximately €30 million, is a player Leeds admire, Smyth suggests the club are not currently making a concerted effort to sign him. Leeds have also been linked with Burnley’s Maxime Esteve, Sporting CP’s Ousmane Dembele, and Real Betis’ Natan.
Another player on Leeds’ radar is Ladislav Krejci of Wolves. Smyth indicated that Krejci represents a more realistic target, potentially offering a “market opportunity” for the club. Krejci initially joined Wolves on loan from Girona before making the move permanent for £26 million, signing a contract through 2030. However, Wolves’ relegation to the Championship increases the likelihood of a sale, and Leeds are reportedly confident a deal can be struck, with the player himself said to be keen on the move.
The club previously held talks with Wolves regarding Krejci in April, viewing him as a “strong tactical fit” for Daniel Farke’s system. The potential arrival of either player would address defensive needs following Struijk’s exit and signal Leeds’ ambition to continue their upward trajectory in the Premier League.
