Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering a move for West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen, following their recent £85 million capture of Mateus Fernandes. Club insider John Wenham has publicly advocated for the signing of the 29-year-old England international, believing he would be a significant upgrade to Tottenham’s attacking options.
Bowen has been a consistent performer for West Ham, recording 20 goal involvements last season despite the club’s relegation from the Premier League. Wenham suggests that Bowen needs to move clubs to continue his career progression, stating he is “too good for the Championship.” He believes Bowen could immediately slot into Tottenham’s starting eleven on the right wing and provide a reliable source of goals.
However, several factors could complicate a potential deal. West Ham are reportedly reluctant to sell players to their London rivals, particularly after already losing Fernandes to Tottenham. The return to fitness of Mohammed Kudus, who previously occupied Bowen’s preferred position on the right flank, also presents a challenge, although manager Roberto De Zerbi could potentially deploy Bowen through the middle.
Furthermore, Tottenham are not alone in their interest in Bowen. Everton, under former West Ham manager David Moyes, are also keen on signing him, while Aston Villa are currently considered the frontrunners for his signature. Bowen is reportedly open to a reunion with Moyes, having enjoyed a successful period under his management at the London Stadium. Despite Wenham’s enthusiasm, a move to Tottenham appears unlikely at this stage, given the competition and existing squad dynamics. The recent influx of attacking talent at Tottenham, including the potential arrival of players like Dusan Vlahovic and Rafael Leao, further clouds Bowen’s potential pathway to regular first-team football.
Tottenham have already significantly bolstered their squad this transfer window, adding Fernandes and several defensive reinforcements. The club is clearly aiming to build a competitive team under De Zerbi, and Bowen represents a potential addition to their attacking ranks. However, with other clubs also vying for his signature and internal considerations within Tottenham, a transfer is far from certain.
