RC Lens have submitted an initial offer for PSV Eindhoven centre-back Armando Obispo, according to reports in L'Équipe and Eindhovens Dagblad. The 27-year-old has been identified as a potential replacement as Lens look to rebuild their defensive options following the departure of Malang Sarr at the end of his contract. Negotiations are currently underway between the two clubs.
Obispo has been with PSV for twenty years, having progressed through their youth academy, and the Dutch club are reportedly open to a sale. The defender recently represented Curaçao at the World Cup qualifying stages for the 2026 tournament and is said to be receptive to the prospect of joining Lens. His current contract with PSV runs until 2027, giving the club a strong negotiating position.
Lens finished sixth in Ligue 1 last season, narrowly missing out on European qualification. Strengthening their defence will be a priority for manager Franck Haise ahead of the new campaign, particularly after Sarr’s departure leaves a void in the squad. Obispo offers experience and physicality, attributes that would likely be valued by the French club.
Obispo made 27 appearances across all competitions for PSV last season, playing a key role in their Eredivisie campaign. He has become a consistent performer for the club, demonstrating his ability to both defend effectively and contribute to build-up play. A move to Lens would provide Obispo with the opportunity to test himself in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
The financial details of the offer from Lens have not been disclosed, but it is understood to be an initial bid, suggesting further negotiations will be required to reach an agreement. If the transfer is completed, Obispo would add much-needed depth and quality to the Lens backline, bolstering their chances of challenging for a European spot next season.
